Today I understood a problem I experienced in Hawaii: Choice Paralysis.
I noticed I had a problem with choices, especially last year when doing all this travelling. What plane, When? Which conference? Which hotel? Even the 4 star hotel is a problem because maybe I could have more fun in the hostel or somewhere else if I just made a different choice.
In this TED Talk Video Psychologist Barry Schwartz takes aim at a central tenet of western societies: freedom of choice. In Schwartz’s estimation, choice has made us not freer but more paralyzed, not happier but more dissatisfied.
The result of this: more choices leads to paralysis and unhappiness. This is why everyone should avoid shopping malls, the variety of choice is just disgusting.
My goal for 2012 is to become crystal clear on what I want & what I don’t want. I you a clear with yourself there is just one possible choice to be made, and it even feels damn right!

Right not I’m following my travel plans (staying in Barcelona for the month, with five german entrepreneurs from FounderTrips.com before heading to San Francisco for a few days). Here is a picture of me and the cup from the SEO-Campixx (the biggest german SEO-Conference) taken in Berlin. This year over 400 SEO’s attended the conference with Joost de Valk (the author of the famous WordPress SEO Plugin) as a special guest.

Heute mal ein Free Mug Friday aus Berlin auf der SEO-Campixx die größte deutsche SEO-Veranstaltung. Ich hatte zwar kaum Zeit mich von der Pubcon Hawaii auf das kalte Berliner Wetter einzustellen.
